By The Fire

My boys and I are staring to pull the camping gear out and get it ready for the summer scouting activities. Today we pulled out the tents and are making sure they are water-proof, clean and well packed so that when summer camp gets here they will be all ready to go. Plus, we want to make sure we don't have any extra parts... or more dangerous -- missing parts (I have played that game before and it wasn't so much fun).

I will have two older scouts going to summer camp this year and they can barley contain themselves they are filled with so much excitement. I promised that I would go with them this year if I could bring a good book, camping chair and my mountain bike along with the forbidden iPod, a couple diet mountain dew's and either some Star Bucks or Alterra coffee so that I don't have to choke down the, hmm - how should I say - Scout Sludge that normally gets served.

Don't get me wrong I have always appreciated the 'Scout Sludge' coffee on the other over nighters that I have done with the scouts but this year I promised to stay the entire week... and sludge just isn't going to cut it if everyone wants me to be pleasant and smile now and then.

Overall it should be fun and great opportunity to fill the blog with scouting photos.
