What a great weekend. My smallest hockey player (all of 5) had the opportunity to play in his very first tournament this weekend called Monsters On Ice, held in Appleton Wisconsin.
As usual, we went up there to play hockey but what we find is these tournaments are a time where kids get time to play, bond, swim and be kids and enjoy hanging with our friends.
Parents get time to hang out with each other and also get some down time to relax and get to know each other.
Our kids didn't win the tournament, they actually only won 1 of their 6 games but I am not completely sure if they cared much past the first few minutes of the games final buzzer. Once they were back in their street cloths they just wanted to get a snack, something to drink, run around with their friends and if they were back at the hotel... "The Pool".
It is weekends like this which reinforce my love and commitment to the sport that my kids love -- Hockey--.
